Three cranes are in full swing on the corner of Jefferson and La Cienega Boulevards, as construction goes vertical at the 11-acre Cumulus site.
Carmel Partners is developing the large mixed-use complex, which is comprised of a seven-story podium building, a 30-story tower and a one-acre public park. The two buildings will feature a combined 1,210 apartment units and 100,000 square feet of commercial space - half of which has already been leased by Whole Foods.
A majority of the project's residential units will be housed in the mid-rise structure, which is being designed by TCA Architects. The building includes 910 apartments, residential amenities, and ground-floor retail and restaurant space.
Cumulus will open in phases beginning in late 2020, and will be complete in 2022. The Whole Foods is scheduled to open in 2021.
Several other projects are under construction along the Expo Line including the Wrapper office tower, also at the La Cienega/Jefferson Station, and Carmel's 595-unit Linea project at the Expo/Sepulveda Station.
