Four months away from its reopening date, Downtown's Hotel Figueroa has provided a sneak peak at the results of its $30-million renovation.

The building, which dates back 90 years, is in the midst of a year-long remodel which is restoring its common areas and approximately 270 guest rooms to their original Spanish Mediterranean decor.  The project is being carried out by a joint venture between Green Oak Real Estate and Urban Lifestyle Hotels, which purchased the property for $65 million in 2014.

Originally built as an "exculsive women's hostelry," by the Young Women's Christian Association in 1926, the Hotel Figueroa has served Downtown travelers for nine decades.  In that period of time, the surrounding neighborhood has gradually evolved from derelict to a bustling sports and entertainment district, anchored by Staples Center and the L.A. Live complex.

A slew of nearby properties are currently being developed with mixed-use projects that will feature on-site hotels, including Oceanwide Plaza and Metropolis.  Another high-rise complex is planned for a car wash which abuts the Hotel Figueroa.

The hotel is scheduled to reopen in either late Fall or early Winter.
