A year-and-a-half after we last dropped by, construction is full swing at 1650 Sawtelle Boulevard, the site of a multifamily residential development from Nayssan Properties.

The five-story building, located just south of Santa Monica Boulevard, will consist of a five-story structure containing 48 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments - including four units of affordable housing - with basement parking and a rooftop amenity deck.

A project website advertises apartments featuring Italian tile and marble, pen kitchen plans, stainless steel European appliances, and in-unit washer/dryer sets.

Sam Ghanouni designed the low-rise structure, which will be clad in a combination of cement plaster and zinc panels.

Completion is expected later this year.

The project is the latest in a series of recent rental developments built along the Sawtelle corridor, following a mixed-use project from California Landmark Group and a smaller project rising at Nebraska Avenue.
