This week, the West Hollywood Planning Commission's Design Review Subcommittee is scheduled to review a proposed apartment complex at 8000 Fountain Avenue.

The project, which comes from an entity called Fountain Blue Holdings, LLC, would call for the construction of a four-story structure featuring 30 residential units above two floors of subterranean parking for 60 vehicles. Other project components would include a courtyard with a swimming pool, an exercise room, a recreation room, and a rooftop deck.

Glendale-based architecture firm Zohrabians is designing the contemporary low-rise building, which will offer two-bedroom units.  The project will set aside seven apartments for lower-income households in exchange or density bonus incentives.

The project site is currently improved with a collection of two-story residential buildings.

A review of the project by architect Gwynne Pugh indicates an "iterative process" to reach the current look of the 8000 Fountain project, evolving from a block-shaped structure to one that is better articulated along Fountain Avenue.
