Over one year after breaking ground across the street from the Koreatown Plaza, vertical construction is now complete for a new residential-retail complex at 940 S. Western Avenue, and crews have now moved on to exterior work.

The project, which replaced a strip mall, will consist of a six-story building featuring 79 residential units above a street-fronting commercial space and an underground parking garage.

According to the website of the Grace Partnership, which designed the podium-type building, indicates that the project takes inspiration from traditional Korean architecture, with a curved roof and staggered, colorful units.

A completion date is still unclear.
