The five-story development, the first U.S. project designed by architect Ma Yansong, features 18 condominiums - including townhomes, "sky villas," and "garden flats." Plans call for a variety of three-bedroom floor plans - ranging between 1,986 and 3,096 square feet - with prices starting at $3.7 million.
Ma Yansong, who is also designing the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, conceived of Gardenhouse as a village above a grassy hill. The project is described by the architect's website as a "space where community and nature coalesce," with aluminum clad buildings wrapping around a central courtyard.
The living wall, designed by artis Scott Hutcheon, is described as the "largest living art wall" in the United States.
Palisades, which is based out of Santa Monica, is also planning a three-tower development featuring housing and a hotel on Sunset Boulevard.
