A proposal to build a new Hampton Inn & Suites in Koreatown took a step forward last month, when it received the approval of the Los Angeles City Council.

The six-story hotel would rise along 3rd Street between Kingsley Drive and Harvard Boulevard, replacing a series of small commercial buildings.  According to plans submitted to the City Council, the project would feature 171 guest rooms above a two-level underground garage with parking accommodations for 103 automobiles and 26 bicycles.  Other amenities would include meeting rooms, a fitness center and a swimming pool, a ground-floor restaurant and sundry store.

Designs from architecture and planning firm Gene Fong Associates call for contemporary style building clad primarily with painted stucco, metal panels and glass. 

The project is being developed by 4110 West 3rd Street, LLC, an Irvine-based company helmed by Mohammad Honarkar, in partnership with Newport Beach-based hotel management firm 24/7 Hotels.

The proposed hotel may be targeting a 2017 completion date.

Small Lot Saturday: Eight Houses in Eagle Rock

The project would replace three existing homes.

Irvine-based developer Calcagnie Group has plans for another small lot subdivision in Northeast Los Angeles, this time on the border between Eagle Rock and Highland Park.

The latest project, located at 6845-6855 N. Figueroa Street, would replace three existing houses with eight new residences.
