A longtime surface parking lot in the Historic Core is slated to make way for a new hotel, according to a filing with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed development, slated for the northwest corner of 4th and Spring Streets, would feature 315 guest rooms and meeting space.  Parking for the mixed-use building would be located in an adjacent parking garage, according to a project description.

The corner of 4th and Spring has already seen major changes within the past year, as work has kicked off for the revival of historic neighbors such as the Banco Popular Building and the Title Insurance Building.

A short distance south, a similar boutique hotel is proposed for a narrow parking lot at 633 S. Spring Street.  To the west, towers are proposed at 4th Street's intersections with Broadway and Hill Street.
