At the corner of Wilshire and Harvard Boulevards, a longtime surface parking lot is no more, and the wooden skeleton of a new residential-retail complex from Jamison Services, Inc. has now taken shape.

The 3640 Wilshire development, named for its address, is a seven-story building that will feature 209 studio and one-bedroom apartments above 3,100 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.  The project will also include a fitness center, a swimming pool and a rooftop terrace.

Santa Monica-based Killefer Flammang Architects designed the podium-type building, which will be clad with a combination of porcelain tile and trespa.

Completion is expected later this year.

3640 Wilshire serves as a prelude to a much larger pipeline for Jamison Services, which is the largest land owner in Koreatown.

A 110-room hotel is planned for a surface parking lot immediately south of the property.
