Nearly a half-year after we last checked in, five levels of wood-frame construction are now perched atop the concrete podium of a mixed-use development in Canoga Park

The project, located at 21121 Vanowen Street, will consist of 101 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments atop approximately 6,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space.  Plans also call for 121 parking stalls in a semi-subterranean garage.

The contemporary podium-type building is designed by Corbel Architects, and is shown in floor plans to feature amenities including a fitness center and a rooftop deck.

Culver City-based Amplify Development Co. is behind the project.  The company is currently building a similar mixed-use complex near Exposition Park.

The 21121 Vanowen Street project sits at the northern boundary of Warner Center, where a number of multifamily residential buildings are now taking shape.  One block south along Variel Street, the wood frame of a new apartment complex from the Hanover Company is now rising.
