Just south of Paramount Pictures, construction is in full swing for a mixed-use development at the corner of Melrose Avenue and Beachwood Drive.

The project, which replaced an auto body repair shop, consists of a five-story building that will contain 52 apartments - with five reserved as very low-income affordable housing - above 5,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 76-car garage.

The contemporary podium-type building, designed by Cuningham Group, will be clad in cement plaster, metal, and porcelain tile.  The building will also include a courtyard pool deck and a rooftop amenity space.

The project is a joint venture between Crescent Capital Partners and Bolour Associates, which have also teamed on projects in Downtown's Arts District and in Hermosa Beach.

Several similar multifamily housing developments are also under construction further east along Melrose Avenue in the East Hollywood neighborhood.
