This Tuesday, real estate firm Creative Space will provide the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Committee with a first glimpse of its proposal to convert a vintage fire station in the Arts District into a boutique hotel.

The two-story brick structure, previously known as Engine Co. No. 17, is located at 710 S. Santa Fe Avenue.  Plans for the reuse of the historic 1928 building call for 10 guest rooms on its upper level, with approximatley 2,200 square feet of retail and restaurant space below.

Existing outdoor space wrapping around the perimeter of the building would be retained as patio seating for the ground-level businesses.

A similar hotel conversion is slated for a building at 4th and Alameda Streets.
