Just south of Wilshire Boulevard, Jamison Services, Inc. is busy construction new levels of wood-frame construction atop a 1950s parking garage.

The project, located at 685 S. Catalina Avenue, will cap the three-story structure with four new floors containing 122 rental apartments.  Shubin Donaldson is serving as the project's design architect, with DFH Architects is as executive architect, according to a representative of Jamison Services.

Immediately north of the garage, Jamison is converting the former regional headquarters of Texaco into an additional 216 loft-style apartments and retaining existing street-level commercial space.  The 12-story building was originally designed by Welton Becket & Associates.

The project is one of three developments in which Jamison is building apartments atop parking garages.  The others are located adjacent to office buildings at 635 S. Western Avenue and 3540 Wilshire Boulevard.

Directly across the street from the former Texaco Building, Jamison is also converting another former office building into residential units.

South of 685 Catalina, a parking lot also owned by Jamison is slated for the construction of an eight-story, 61-unit apartment building.

Wilshire Construction is serving as the general contract for the wood-frame construction above the parking garage.
