A presentation to the Crenshaw Corridor Design Review Board unveils revised plans for a mixed-use development just west of the Crenshaw/LAX Line's future Hyde Park Station.

The project, which would replace an auto repair garage at 3475 W. Slauson Avenue, calls for the construction of a five-story building featuring 63 studio one-, and two-bedroom apartments above ground-floor retail space and parking for 27 vehicles.  Seven of the apartments would be set aside as deed-restricted affordable housing to make the development eligible for Transit Oriented Communities incentives.

The updated design by Aero Collective reflects changes requested at a preliminary hearing for the project conducted at the Design Review Board in September.  The most glaring change is to the building's exterior, which is now colored in terracotta red with black accents, rather than the previous white and blue scheme.  Additional changes include an expanded retail component - now with two restaurant stalls comprising more than 1,400 square feet - and elimination of a three-bedroom apartment to accommodate the revised ground-floor plan.

City records list the owner and applicant behind the proposed apartment complex as Westwood-based entity Elan & Ayla QOZB, LLC.

The project is one of several mixed-use and multifamily residential projects in development near Hyde Park Station, which is currently expected to open in 2021.
