Construction will begin on July 24 for a new facility at the Miller Children's and Women's Hospital in Long Beach, reports the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

The Cherese Mari Laulhere Children's Village, slated for the northwest corner of Atlantic Boulevard and 27th Street, will consist of a four-story, 80,000-square-foot building containing medical offices, a pharmacy, exam rooms, and treatment gyms for children.

The L-shaped structure, designed by C|A Architects, will feature an exterior of stucco, wood, and concrete masonry, accented by color-stained glass.

The Press-Telegram reports that the village will consolidate multiple providers under a single roof, reducing the need for parents to shuttle their children from doctor to doctor at outside locations.

Completion of the new facility is anticipated in 2021.

Miller Children's & Women's Hospital is one of eight independent children's hospitals in the State of California, and serves more than 84,000 patients.
