Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa has broken ground on its first on-campus student housing project.

The new residence hall, which is being built by the Irving, Texas-based developer Servitas, will create 814 students beds in a series of four-story buildings.

Renderings show a contemporary design for the new student housing, which will be centered around large courtyards featuring landscaping and outdoor furniture.  The project is being designed by MVE + Partners and HPI Architecture.

Moss & Associates is serving as the project's general contractor.

OCC and Servitas are building the student apartments through a public-private partnership with National Campus and Community Development Corporation, which allows the college to access tax-exempt debt financing.

Completion is anticipated in August 2020.
