Non-profit developer LINC Housing Corporation is planning a new permanent supportive housing project just north of the I-105 Freeway in Watts.

The project, which would rise from an approximately half-acre site at 11408-11422 S. Central Avenue, would replace a cluster of small commercial buildings with new structure featuring 64 residential units.

LINC Housing has requested streamlined approvals for the project in accordance with AB 2162, legislation passed last year by Assemblymember David Chiu.  The bill requires that supportive housing be considered a by-right use in zones where multifamily and mixed-use developments are already permitted, and prohibits jurisdictions from imposing parking requirements on projects located within a half-mile of a public transit stop.

Additional details regarding the project are unclear based on its case filing.

LINC Housing recently broke ground on a similar affordable development south of the I-105 Freeway in the unincorporated community of Willowbrook.
