One block west of Crenshaw Boulevard, a vacant lot in Hyde Park is being transformed into community green space.

The South Victoria Pocket Park, located at 6537-6541 S. Victoria Avenue, is scheduled to open in 2019 according to a sign posted at the construction site.

The Trust for Public Land, a San Francisco-based non-profit organization which builds parks across the country, has partnered on the project with local partners including the City of Los Angeles, the Urban Peace Institute, and the HELPER Foundation.

A site plan shows features including fitness equipment, benches, a picnic area, a children's play structure, and a "basketball wall."

The Trust for Public Land has built several parks in the Los Angeles area, including a similar pocket park on Carlton Way in Hollywood.
