The wood-and-concrete frame of Union South Bay is now complete in Carson.

The project, which is being developed as a joint venture between Faring and Wolff Company, is located at the northwest corner of Carson Street and Avalon Boulevard.  The five-story building - which wraps an interior parking structure - will contain 357 residential units and approximately 30,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Steinberg Hart is designing the project, which will include a 10,000-square-foot plaza at the intersection of Carson and Avalon, as well as amenities such as a courtyard, a fitness center, and a rooftop deck.  Tate Snyder Kimsey and Hongjoo Kim Landscape Architects are also working on the project.

Union South Bay is the largest development now under construction in Carson, but it is not the only large multifamily residential project in the pipeline.  In mid-July, city officials broke ground on a 300-unit apartment complex at the intersection of Del Amo Boulevard and Main Street.
