At its meeting on August 2, the CRA/LA Governing Board is scheduled to consider a plan from R.D. Olson Development to construct a high-rise hotel in Hollywood.

The Ivar Gardens Hotel, slated for a property at 6407 Sunset Boulevard, would replace a Jack-in-the-Box fast food restaurant with a 21-story building containing 275 guest rooms, approximately 1,900 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and parking for up to 135 vehicles.

WATG is designing the 232-foot tower with Art Deco features, a nod to other historic buildings throughout the Hollywood community.

The CRA/LA Governing Board has jurisdiction over the property as it is located in the Hollywood Redevelopment Area, and is requested an increase in allowable floor area ratio.

The project is one of a handful of new hotels taking shape between Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards, joining the already-finished Dream Hollywood and Thompson and Tommie hotels now under construction near the intersection of Selma and Wilcox Avenues.

It also sits directly across Sunset from the current home of Amoeba Records, which is slated for redevelopment with a 28-story apartment tower.
