Next month, the City of Lomita's Planning Commission will review a proposal to construct the Picerne Lomita Apartments, a large multifamily residential complex at 24000 Crenshaw Boulevard.

The 2.7-acre site, located at the intersection of Crenshaw and Lomita Boulevard, functions as a storage yard for rental equipment.  The Picerne Group, the Newport Beach-based real estate firm which owns the property, proposes to redevelop L-shaped lot with with a five-story building that would feature 223 rental apartments, including studio, one- and two-bedroom units.  Plans also call for a parking garage and residential amentiies such as a pool, a fitness center and a common area balcony.

Renderings of the project, which is being designed by TCA Architects, portray a contemporary podium-type complex seated above two basement levels.  Exterior materials would include wood grain porcelain tile, plaster and board formed concrete.

A construction timeline has previously been estimated at 26 months.  However, a groundbreaking date has not been announced.
