In a ceremony held on November 2, officials from both health systems celebrating the topping out of ceremony for Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center's new patient tower. The six-story, 223,000-square-foot building - located just south of the US-101 Freeway - will add 190 patient rooms to the hospital.
Perkins + Will is designing the new facility, which will stand approximately 120 feet in height. The new construction will connect with other buildings at the Tarzana Medical Center campus - including the neighboring Wmen's Pavilion - through a new landscaped garden at ground level.
The project, which is scheduled for completion in 2023, will also include a 600-car parking garage.
The project is the result of a state mandate to either retrofit or replace acute care medical facilities for earthquake safety prior to 2030. Cedars-Sinai is planning to rebuild its Marina Del Rey Hospital in Del Rey for the same purpose.
