A presentation to the Mid City West Neighborhood Council Planning and Land Use Committee offers a first look at The Pointe on La Brea, a proposed affordable apartment complex in Hollywood.

EAH Housing, the developer behind the project, intends to replace an auto body shop at 843-849 N. La Brea Avenue with a five-story building that would feature 49 studio apartments for low-income households and one manager's unit.  Plans also call for a gym, a community room, a laundry facility, a central courtyard, and five at-grade parking stalls.

The building, designed by FSY Architects, will consist of four levels of wood-frame construction over a one-story concrete base.  Elevations show that the apartments would be clad in a mix of stucco and perforated metal panels.

EAH is entitling The Pointe with development incentives through the Transit Oriented Communities guidelines, allowing for 50 apartments at a property which has a base residential density of 28 units.

The project site is located just south of Willoughby Avenue, where CIM Group is now finishing its buildout of a seven-story, 169-unit market-rate development.

EAH Housing, which is based out of San Rafael, is planning other affordable developments in Santa Monica and South Los Angeles.
