In Koreatown, construction has wrapped for Hallasan, a new high-rise apartment tower near the Wilshire/Vermont subway station.

The tower, which is located at 696 S. New Hampshire Avenue, is located on a site which was formerly a surface parking lot at the northeast corner of 7th Street and New Hampshire Avenue. The 36-story building features 375 residential atop a podium structure featuring parking and approximately 2,800 square feet ground-floor commercial space.

A leasing website for the property advertises a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings. Monthly rents range from as low as $2,491 per month for a 468-square-foot studio unit to as high as $9,884 per month for a three-bedroom penthouse.

MVE + Partners designed Hallasan, which is clad in glass on its upper levels and a transparent screen around its parking podium. The tower features amenity decks above both its podium and rooftop. The complex also features a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a co-working lounge.

The tower was entitled as the centerpiece of a larger mixed-use project proposed by Harridge Development Group, which also permits the conversion of an I. Magnin department store on Wilshire Boulevard into a 160-room hotel, as well as the redevelopment of an adjoining parking lot with a low-rise apartment complex.

The tower is the latest in a recent string of high-rise developments along in Koreatown, following the 25-story Kurve on Wilshire and 3033 Wilshire. Other projects in the works include a two-tower complex from Jamison Services now rising next to Wilshire/Normandie Station, the 40-story Terrace Block development, and a 34-story tower proposed by Crescent Heights.
