Two blocks west of MacArthur Park, the wrapping is off at WILCO - a mixed-use apartment complex from the Somerset Group.

The project, its name an amalgam of its cross streets Wilshire Boulevard and Coronado Street, consists of 152 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments above 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

DFH Architects designed the contemporary podium-type building, which incorporates elements of architectural styles seen in surrounding properties - including Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, and Spanish Revival.

In addition to housing, the project includes common amenities such as a rooftop deck, a swimming pool, a yoga room, and a gym.

Pre-leasing for the WILCO is currently underway with availability set to begin in October, according to a project website.  Monthly rents for the building start at $1,820.

Other mixed-use projects now in development near MacArthur Park include a 264-unit apartment complex planned at 8th and Park View Streets, and a prefabricated modular building now rising on Alvarado Street.
