The proposed project, slated to rise at the southeast corner of Washington Boulevard and Los Angeles Street, would replace a small apartment building and multiple warehouses with a five-story structure containing 105 residential units atop 7,300 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 75 basement parking spaces.
The mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units will be reserved for low-income families, special needs persons, and transition aged youth.
VTBS Architects is designing the contemporary low-rise structure, which would include a community room, a central courtyard, and a street-fronting public plaza. Architectural plans show an exterior of grey, white, and olive-colored stucco and fiber cement panels.
Agoura Hills-based AMCAL Multi-Housing Company initiated an entitlement application for the Washington and Los Angeles Street apartment complex more than two years ago, and has since sought a variety of state and federal funding sources for the development.
