The L&R Group of Companies has unveiled new details for a proposed 52-story mixed-use tower near the L.A. Convention Center, as first seen in the Downtown News.

The project, which would replace Toyota of Downtown Los Angeles, would from the intersection of Figueroa and Venice Boulevards with over 300 residential units, a 250-key hotel, 499 parking spaces and approximately 15,000 square feet of offices and retail.

Architecture firm Gensler is designing the high-rise development, which is unlike any project seen thus far in South Park.  The building is segmented into three sections, starting with a rectangular structure which rises 19 floors above ground.  After that point, the tower is split into two separate masses by a large vertical opening, before being capped by additional offset floors.

The staggered orientation of the tower's mass would create a series of terrace decks, which would house amenities for residents and hotel guests.

Additional details about the project are currently unclear.

The L&R-backed development stretches the boundaries of the Downtown skyline, which has largely congregated north of Pico Boulevard until now.

Another Gensler-designed tower complex is also in the works south of the 10 freeway.

20 Townhomes Planned in Inglewood

The project would rise from an L-shaped site near La Brea Avenue.

In Inglewood, a local developer has filed plans to construct townhomes just west of La Brea Avenue. The proposed development, slated for an L-shaped property at 113-133 W. Plymouth Street, would replace 11 existing single-family residences with 20 three-story townhomes above a basement parking garage.
