A local real estate development firm started construction in July on a mixed-use housing project in the Pasadena Playhouse District.

The project, located at the northwest corner of Union Street and El Molino Avenue, will consist of a four-story edifice containing 40 residential units atop 2,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space and parking for 70 vehicles.

Moule & Polyzoides is designing the project at 635 E. Union Street, which is depicted with Spanish Colonial revival architectural features.

The project, which will include a mix of two-bedroom dwellings and townhouse-style units, is being developed by GD Realty Group.  Completion is anticipated in Fall 2021, according to a representative of the company.

The development site is located cattycorner to the Andalucia, a similar mixed-use project completed by Mack Real Estate Group and Mill Creek Development in 2017.
