Weeks after receiving building permits, Bond Companies has broken ground on a multifamily residential development in the Westlake neighborhood.

The project site, located at 1363 W. Colton Street, is entitled for the construction of a seven-story building featuring 47 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments - including four reserved for extremely low-income households - and 25 parking spaces on a basement level.

DE Architects is designing the project, which will be clad with a combination of cement plaster and corrugated metal siding.  Renderings depict a rooftop amenity deck with views of the Downtown skyline.

The property now under construction was previously approved for a smaller six-story, 40-unit apartment building in 2016.  Bond Companies opted to re-entitle the site using the Transit Oriented Communities guidelines after acquiring the land one year later.

Bond Companies recently completed construction of a wedge-shaped apartment building with retail at 333 Belmont Avenue in Historic Filipinotown.
