This week, representatives of 4th District Councilmember David Ryu will present plans to the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council's Planning and Use Management Committee for the potential reuse of a shuttered library as supportive housing.

The property, formerly the Will & Ariel Durant Library, is located one block south of Sunset Boulevard at 1403 N. Gardner Street.  The library operated out of the nondescript one-story building between 1987 and 2004 before relocating to a new facility.

According to the meeting agenda, Council District 4 hopes that the existing building could serve as housing for approximately 20 women.

Additional details about the proposed adaptive reuse project are currently unclear.
