An asphalt parking lot in the Jefferson Park neighborhood has made way for the development of a Best Western hotel.

The property, located at the northwest corner of 27th Street and Western Avenue, is approved for the construction of a three-story building featuring 77 guest rooms atop a semi-subterranean parking garage with 52 vehicle stalls.

Samwon Design and Studio M + A are designing the project, which is depicted in renderings with Streamline Moderne features.  Plans call for amenities such as a fitness room and an outdoor pool deck.

City records list the project applicant as a Long Beach-based entity controlled by Hitendra Patel.

Duk J Corporation is the project's general contractor.

The development site is located just a few blocks south of a former medical facility which CIM Group is now converting into a mixed-use apartment complex.
