Just south of the San Bernardino Freeway in Boyle Heights, construction is progressing slowly for a new hotel development.

The project, which is rising from a formerly vacant site at the intersection of Soto Street and Pomeroy Avenue, will consist of a four-story edifice featuring 81 guest rooms with a small breakfast area and a 61-car garage.

Construction began at the property roughly one year ago.  As of April 2020, one level of wood-frame construction how stands above the hotel's concrete podium and basement parking structure.

A rendering of the building, which is designed by Mid-Cities Engineering, depicts a contemporary low-rise building.

City records list the project's applicant as Amit Patel, who manages a hotel development firm called Stay Hotels Group, LLC.

The property was sold for approximately $2 million in 2015.
