A empty parcel just north of the intersection of 8th Street and Harvard Boulevard in Koreatown is poised for the construction of a hotel, according to plans posted by the Wilshire Center Koreatown Neighborhood Council.

725 Harvard, LLC, the owner of the property at 752 S. Harvard Boulevard, submitted an application late last year to the Planning Department seeking approvals for the construction a five-story building featuring 16 hotel rooms above basement parking for 16 vehicles.

Chris Yang is designing the proposed development, which is depicted as a contemporary podium-type building wrapped in trapezoidal and rhombus-shaped patterns.  Floor plans show apartment-style suites with amenities such as a fitness room, a rear-facing patio, and a business center.

Architectural plans list the name of the proposed hotel as "The Hub."

The development site would rise just north of a new apartment complex which was completed last year by Jamison Services at the southeast corner of 8th and Harvard, and across the street from a similar mixed-use project slated to replace a stretch of single-story commercial buildings.

Two additional mixed-use buildings are now under construction two blocks east at the intersection of 8th Street and Serrano Avenue.
