The Hartford Villa Apartments, slated for a long-vacant lot at 459 S. Hartford Avenue, will consist of a seven-story building featuring 100 affordable units of permanent supportive housing and one manager's apartment.

The project will serve chronically homeless veterans and low-income individuals making 50 percent or less than the area median income.  Renderings portray a mid-rise structure in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, with amenities such as a community kitchen, a lounge, a computer room, and on-site supportive services.

KFA Architecture is designing the project.

Construction of the Hartford Villa development will cost an estimated $43 million.

The new apartments are located not far south of a 28-room boutique hotel already under construction near the intersection of 3rd Street and Lucas Avenue.
