Hudson Pacific Properties is cooking up plans for even more production space in Hollywood.

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles-based real estate investment trust filed an application with the City of Los Angeles seeking approvals for an expansion of Sunset Las Palmas Studios at 6650 W. Romaine Street. The proposed project calls for razing all existing improvements - including small office buildings, surface parking, and support buildings - to clear the way for the new construction of a 130,000-square-foot project with four soundstages.

Additional details regarding the project are not included in its Planning case file.

Hudson Pacific Properties, which bills itself as the largest independent owner and operator of soundstages in the United States, has built its portfolio in part through a roughly decade-long building spree in Hollywood. The company has previously added a pair of soundstages and a pair of 14-story office buildings to Sunset Bronson Studios campus, which is now home to Netflix, and has pursued a similar expansion of neighboring Sunset Gower Studios.

At Sunset Las Palmas Studios, which Hudson Pacific acquired for $200 million in 2017, its biggest change to date has been the addition of a 130,000-square-foot office building named Harlow, which is now leased by a post-production company. However, The Real Deal reports that the company's plans for the property formerly known as Hollywood Center Studios could eventually amount to more than 600,000 square feet of new space.

The new construction at Romaine Street would sit directly west of 959 Seward, a 250,000-square-foot office complex built on the former site of Consolidated Film Industries, and one block from a proposed 10-story, 136,000-square-foot office development at 1000 N. Seward Street.
