This edition of Throwback Thursday offers a before-and-after look at the intersection of 7th Street and Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles.

The before image, captured by architectural photographer Hunter Kerhart in September 2014, shows the metal skeleton of Carmel Partners' 8th & Grand development just taking shape.

The latter image, taken in July 2017, shows the seven-story, 700-unit apartment complex in its completed state.  It is highlighted by a Whole Foods Market that now occupies a portion of its ground level.

Also seen in the background is Atelier DTLA, a 33-story apartment tower also developed by Carmel.

In Inglewood, a local developer has filed plans to construct townhomes just west of La Brea Avenue. The proposed development, slated for an L-shaped property at 113-133 W. Plymouth Street, would replace 11 existing single-family residences with 20 three-story townhomes above a basement parking garage.
