Construction is underway for Angeles House, a new bridge housing facility in the Willowbrook neighborhood.

The project, located at 13200 Avalon Boulevard, is being developed by Downtown-based service provider Union Rescue Mission.  The new three-story structure will feature housing for 86 families - including 370 total beds.

"This moves Union Rescue Mission ahead in our plans to regionalize services throughout Los Angeles," said Union Rescue Mission President Andy Bales in a statement.  He went on to note that the project is privately funded.

HED is designing Angeles House, which is described as a "home-like" environment with private bathrooms, storage areas, and furnished apartments.

Common amenities will be integrated throughout the property, including community rooms, a garden, a library, and office space.  Plans also call for supportive services such as job training, daycare, and medical care.

The project site is located a quarter-mile south of Magic Johnson Park, where construction is now underway for a $70-million renovation.

A short distance east, Seal Beach-based developer Olson Homes completed a new development of townhomes in 2018.
