Developers McCarthy Cook and Northwood Investors continue to move forward with a planned modernization of West L.A.'s Trident Center, with last week's release of the project's final environmental impact report.

The twin 10-story office towers, located at 11355 W. Olympic Boulevard, were built in the 1980s.  As currently composed, the property consists of 380,000 square feet of rentable office space, as well as a rear amenity deck above its parking structure.

The Gensler-designed makeover of the property, branded as Lumen West L.A., will bridge between the two towers and construct a new podium deck.  The proposed construction would add 120,000 square feet of offices and ground-floor retail space to the property - increasing its total rentable space to more than 500,000 square feet.

Plans also call for reskinning the entire property in glass.

Past reports have pointed to a roughly a construction period between 2018 and 2020.

The Trident Center is located one block was of the intersection of Olympic and Butler Avenue, where construction is underway for a six-story, 70-unit apartment complex with ground-floor retail space.
