On January 24, the West Hollywood Planning Commission's Design Review Subcommittee is scheduled to consider updated plans for an apartment building between Fountain Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard.

The proposed three-story building, slated for a property at 1223 N. Hayworth Street, would feature 12 one- and two-bedroom apartments above 18 basement parking spaces.

Santa Monica-based Ralph Mechur Architects is designing the project, which would incorporate exterior finishes including metal and stucco.  Plans also call for private roof decks and a common rear yard.

A report to the Design Review Subcommittee from architect Gwynne Pugh notes that the project has been reviewed at several meetings since it was first presented just over one year ago, and describes it as an "elegant and well-composed building."

The project site is located a block west of 1250 Fairfax Avenue, where local developer Palisades broke ground last year on a five-story, 53-unit apartment complex.
