Three years after purchasing a former Long Beach Community Redevelopment Agency property at Anaheim Boulevard and Walnut Avenue, non-profit developer BRIDGE Housing Corp. is moving forward with plans for low-income apartments on the site.

The proposed 116,000-square-foot development would be highlighted by a five-story building fronting both Anaheim and Walnut, featuring 88 one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings.  Plans also call for 22,700 square feet of street-level retail space, the bulk of which would be used for a medical clinic.  Parking would be provided in a three-story, 156-car garage located at the back of the property.

Rendering of the project, designed by SVA Architects, depict a contemporary low-rise structure.  A site plan indicates plans for amenities such as a rooftop deck, a central courtyard, and other recreation rooms.

A timeline for the project is not stated in its initial study.

Several other mixed-use developments combining affordable housing with ground-floor retail are under construction along Long Beach Boulevard.
