After two years of construction, developer Holland Partner group is nearing the finish line for its new apartment complex at 222 S. Main Street, adjacent to the former Cathedral of St. Vibiana.

The mixed-use complex, located on the fringe of Little Tokyo, will feature 237 apartments above a parking garage and nearly 4,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.  Substantial amenities are included within the project, highlighted by a rooftop deck offering a swimming pool and gathering space.

The building, designed by local architecture firm Togawa Smith Martin, appears to stand eight stories along Los Angeles Street and seven stories along Main Street to due to an elevation change across the property.  Though modern in appearance, the project shows deference to its historic neighbor by creating a shared paseo along the property line.

Previous reports have pointed to an opening date in early 2017.

Holland is currently on an aggressive building spree throughout Downtown Los Angeles, with another podium-type development underway in City West and high-rise towers in South Park and the Fashion District.
