One year after breaking ground at the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards, construction of the new Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills has progressed to its sixth level above ground.

The $200 million development, spearheaded by Alagem Capital Group, will create a 12-story tower featuring 170 guest rooms, luxury retail accommodations and other ancillary functions.

Designed by a team consisting of Gensler and Pierre-Yves Rochon, plans call for white stone-cladding with strong horizontal lines reminiscent of the Streamline Moderne style.  Interior finishes include burnished bronze and lalique installations.

Guest rooms will offer balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Los Angeles basin.  Other amenities include garden patios, a rooftop pool deck and a luxury spa.

The project, which is the Waldorf Astoria's first new build on the West Coast, is scheduled for completion in 2017.

Multifamily residential complex wrapping up work near DTLA.

Just west of the Harbor Freeway, Lion Real Estate Group is now wrapping up construction at a new apartment complex overlooking the Downtown skyline. Eastview, as the property at 327-411 Boylston Avenue is known, consists of a seven-story building featuring 121 one- and two-bedroom apartments above parking for 145 vehicles.  Plans call for 14 of the residential units to be set aside as affordable housing.
