After roughly one year of construction, framing is now complete for the Washington Arts Collective, a new affordable and supportive housing complex in Mid-City.
The project from developer Meta Housing Corp., which replaced a pair of city-owned surface parking lots at 4600 and 4601 Washington Boulevard, consists of two four-story buildings which will offer a combined total of 56 apartments at completion. The complex will include 20 units for formerly homeless families and individuals and 35 units for low-income families.

Y&M Architects is designing the development, which will have a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, as well as ground-floor gallery and rehearsal space, courtyards, meeting rooms, music rooms, and parking for 100 vehicles. Renderings depict the finished product as a pair of contemporary low-rise structures clad in brick.
The Washington Arts Collective was financed through a variety of local and state level sources, including tax credit equity, bonds, Measure HHH funds, and No Place Like funds, contributing to a total estimated price tag of $38.5 million.
