Urbanize LA is pleased to be a media sponsor for the upcoming FutureBuild 2016 event next Tuesday, January 26 in Downtown Los Angeles.  The event is sponsored by ULI Los Angeles, in partnership with VerdeXchange.

FutureBuild 2016 features curated sessions with top thinkers and innovators in business and government, local and worldwide.  The FutureBuild sessions will focus on three key areas of urban transformation: sustainability, resilience and creative disruption.

Starting off with a bang, the opening keynote address will be a discussion entitled “A River Runs Through It”: Reimagining LA’s Waterway between Mayor Eric Garcetti, Architect Frank Gehry, and Executive Director of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Joe Edmiston.  We’re hoping that at least a couple juicy details about the long awaited restoration of the LA river will be revealed during the talk.

Francis Anderton of KCRW’s program DNA: Design & Architecture will be moderating the panel discussion The Most Sustainable Buildings in the World.  Participating in the discussion is David Martin, Design Principal at A.C. Martin (of Wilshire Grand fame), David Kramer, President at Hudson Companies Inc. and Harlan Kelly, General Manager at San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

Incoming Nominated Director of Planning for the City of Los Angeles Vince Bertoni will be participating in the panel discussion The Sharing Economy’s Promise and Challenges along with Jacob Lieb, Sustainability Policy Manager at Metro and Ronen Olshansky, Co-Founder and CEO of Cross Campus.  The panel will be moderated by Jon Healey, Deputy Editor of the Los Angeles Times.
