For the first time in LADWP’s recent history, leaders from each department gathered at Power Lunch on August 14th in DTLA, an event hosted by Dry Utility Experts (DUEx).

Conceptualized by DUEx founder Ian Sanchez, the Power Lunch event was able to successfully bring together LA’s development community to learn from LADWP’s directors. Speakers included Jeff Carivau and Eric Taylor, who covered new directives to assist in communication, and Steve Bullum and George Nino, who discussed submittal phases, project influx, and timelines for LADWP.

Power Lunch hosted over one hundred industry attendees. Among the audience were associates from Jamison Properties, Carmel Partners, and Psomas. Affordable housing developers included Affirmed Housing among others.

“I encouraged my team to attend Power Lunch and it did not disappoint. There was so much beneficial information that we wouldn’t have otherwise. Thank you DUEx for organizing this awesome event,” shared Garrett Lee, president of Jamison Properties.

The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power has restructured in the last year-and-a-half to better connect with client needs and utility partnerships.  This event gave another opportunity to get face to face with their leaders.  The slides and information provided during Power Lunch were full of valuable content that was later distributed to all guests.

“Power Lunch was a huge success, and with each presentation slide over a dozen people would stand to take pictures of the information," said DUEx co-founder Alvin Alvarez.  "All the LADWP leadership that attended were extremely helpful and they stuck around to speak to the attendees. We are looking forward to the next event to continue the supportive and collaborative culture within the development industry."
