Following months of site preparation, San Francisco-based developer Carmel Partners has started laying rebar to support the 11-acre Cumulus project next to La Cienega/Jefferson Station.

The development site, once the site of a radio broadcast facility, is slated for the construction of a seven-story building and a 30-story tower that will create a combined 1,210 apartments and 100,000 square feet of commercial space.

The bulk of the project's residential units will be situated in the squat mid-rise structure - designed by TCA Architects - which will front La Cienega and Jefferson Boulevards.  Plans call for a total of 910 apartments in addition amenities and ground-floor retail and restaurant space.

The remaining 300 apartments will be located in a tower toward the northeast perimeter of the site, a 320-foot-tall structure that is being designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz.

Multi-use buildings are set to wrap around a one-acre internal park, designed by Studio MLA.

Cumulus is one of several large ongoing developments by Carmel in the Los Angeles area, including the Linea apartments at Expo/Sepulveda Station, and a proposed 35-story mixed-use tower in the Arts District.

Slow Progress at San Pedro Small Lot Development

24 on Centre broke ground in October 2017.

Ten months ago, Santa Clarita-based Williams Homes broke ground on a small lot subdivision in San Pedro.  The project, which replaces a vacant lot at the intersection of 8th and Streets, is known as 24 on Centre.  Plans call for 24 single-family residences, all of which would feature a rooftop deck and a parking garage.
